The English are not all British

On holiday in Jamaica, they talk with respect and reverence towards the British.

They refer to anyone from the UK who is in a position of power as “British”. The Navy are British, the diplomats and the Queen are British.

Interestingly, layabouts on the beach (like me) were termed “English” or “Scottish” rather than “British”.

Enquiring in the office here as to who signed themselves as being of “English” or “British” nationality on documents gave
some interesting distinctions across the team.

Asking a young lady in the office why she puts English and not British her response is – “it’s what I am”.

It is not religious but there is (and always was) a difference between the British and the English.

After the catalyst in Scotland, the next election will be won or lost on who can untangle and leverage this correctly.

  1. There could well be an argument for this being a relic of more religious days, following the reformations of the 16th Century, the Church of Scotland and England were clearly divided and could provide a more intrinsic sense of identity for those involved.

  2. There’s too many bloody foreigners (immigrants) already Resident here in the UK Which has changed the whole nature and ethnic make-up of the UK. It’s diluted our wealth, our education and our ethnic make-up as a Country (the whole UK). Immigration is for those who are needed by the UK for their expertise and special skills. When they finish working here, they go back home – Period!

You can understand why most English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish identify themselves by their own Nationality – own history, own culture and own languages – its who we are and where we belong! There are foreigners living in our towns and cities who don’t integrate – either by appearance, fashion, language or culture! Hec most can’t even speak English and still travel back to their homeland to pick-up a wife – further diluting the UK culture and who we are!

I for one will be voting UKIP for the first time, as they’re the only Political Party with a credible plan for managing immigration and sending those bastards who don’t belong here back to their own Country of origin!

I’ll support any movement that will try to get this Country back on track, address the important cultural issues in the UK and avoid any future ethnic conflict on our own doorstep! I’ll bet Enoch Powell is turning in his grave!

    Now I’ve had my say!

I just couldn’t ignore this email!

Your title should read ‘The British are not all English’.

I am a British national but not English. English is a ‘race’. You can only say English or Scottish by birth as I am a Sinhalese. One becomes British by being a national of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales or by naturalisation.

Just to give you another angle if you go to say Sri Lanka you can be a Sri Lankan national by naturalization if you qualify but you will never be a Sinhalese. Hope this makes sense.

  4. The next election will be won or lost on whether or not the electorate can remember the mess Labour made with 13 years of Tony B’Liar and gay Gordon.

Ed Millipede seems wet but the British electorate has a very short memory.

I consider it to be an indication of the level of education here
