The lying foreigner stole a towel!

Returning to the sunbeds, it was a shock to find a towel had been stolen. A quick check on the floor and an anxious look around confirms the crime.
The uncovered bed sticks out like the fake boobs on the fifty-something Welsh lady round the other side of the pool, next to the niqab covered Egyptian ladies.
Trouble is, this hotel believes a fifteen quid fear system ensures towels don’t go missing.
So do you pay and comply with Arabic hotel law or …
Find out who did it and start the argument?
Quietly steal one of the many other unguarded towel assets?
Trust the towel man to offer clemency on account of your towel being stolen?
Why did someone steal my towel? Could it be that someone stole theirs?
The vision of a chain of towel crime came to me, an unbroken cycle of shock, arguments and counter attack between the many cultures who should be relaxing and rejuvenating.
A cycle enforced by this broken system pushing fear, the terrible fear not of fifteen quid but of paying when you’re the victim, paying when you shouldn’t have to.
Over at the towel kiosk, I throw the towel into the half full towel basket as if helping the towel guy do his job and confidently say “ Two please – card number 2102”.
Soon It was done, the underhanded trade of my 1 towel for 2 towel cards was completed!
Yes it was me, I was the foreign towel thief who had blatantly lied and cheated the system.
The thing is, that missing towel will probably be still in the hotel (faded, well used second-hand towels are not valuable) The guests all benefit from less arguments and angst by the pool making them more likely to return which, in turn, actually benefits the hotel.
Whether it’s a flawed Arabic hotel regulation system or a flawed UK financial regulation system, neither can ever have vision, never have humanity, and they cannot care like you do.
When you become a compliant zombie you trade in your humanity, you trade in your caring, and you trade in your vision.
The only sure way to fix a broken system is to break it.
So, when is it right for you to break the system? Who gives you the authority to do it?
